Basketball Game Preview: Pender Pendragons vs. Wisner-Pilger Gators

Pender is 2-8 against Wisner-Pilger since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Pender Pendragons will venture away from home to square off against the Wisner-Pilger Gators at 7:30 p.m. Pender will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Pender is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their game on Saturday with ease, bagging a 75-21 victory over Clarkson/Leigh. The Pendragons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 20 points or more this season.

Pender got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alex Roth out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. That's the most points Roth has posted since back in January of 2024. Zander Welsh was another key player, going 5 of 8 en route to 15 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.

Pender smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Wisner-Pilger was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Logan View/Scribner-Snyder, falling 68-43.

Pender's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Wisner-Pilger, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.

Pender strolled past Wisner-Pilger in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 59-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pender since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
