Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Quitman Bulldogs, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 54-35 bruising from Walnut Ridge on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Walnut Ridge's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Enrique Perez, who rushed for 261 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Robbie Tate was another key contributor, rushing for 147 yards and three touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Walnut Ridge's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Quitman's QB won't forget River Hancock anytime soon given Hancock sacked him twice.
This is the second loss in a row for Quitman and nudges their season record down to 4-7. As for Walnut Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
