Baseball Recap: New Ulm Cathedral Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

In Thursday's Canine Competition, New Ulm Cathedral prevailed. They were the clear victors by a 17-4 margin over the Lester Prairie Bulldogs on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Greyhounds.

Colin Anderson made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, New Ulm Cathedral got a massive performance out of Jake Finstad, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Finstad a new career-high. Caleb Forstner was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

New Ulm Cathedral pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Lester Prairie, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, New Ulm Cathedral will be playing at home against Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lester Prairie, they are taking a road trip to take on Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
