The Trinity Valley Trojans had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 48.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came out on top against Cooper by a score of 37-28. For Trinity Valley, this counts as revenge for the 63-31 defeat Cooper walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2022.
Trinity Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Parkhurst, who threw for 325 yards and two touchdowns while completing 78.1% of his passes, and also rushed for 112 yards on only 13 carries. Tucker Howell was another key contributor, gaining 105 total yards and three touchdowns.
When it comes to explaining why Cooper lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dean Calhoun. Despite the final result, he rushed for 161 yards and two touchdowns. Calhoun is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Santi Fernandez villarreal, who threw for 168 yards on 13 of 26 attempts.
Trinity Valley's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Cooper, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Trinity Valley will head out on the road to face off against Fort Worth Country Day at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cooper does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
