After flying high against the Great Hearts Northern Oaks Griffins last Tuesday, the Luling Eagles came back down to earth. Luling took a serious blow against Cole on Friday, falling 58-29. Luling has struggled against Cole recently, as their game on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Luling lost, one person who can't be blamed is Skylar Dredla. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dredla has scored all season.
Luling bumped their record down to 3-15 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.2 points per game. As for Cole, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Luling will face off against Randolph at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Randolph is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games. As for Cole, they will head out on the road to take on Nixon-Smiley at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Nixon-Smiley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1211th, while Cole is ranked 370th).
