The Minersville Battlin' Miners will be playing in front of their home fans against the Nativity BVM Green Wave at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Minersville will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
Minersville put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 42-12 win over Nativity BVM. With Minersville ahead 34-6 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Luke Stevenosky went supernova for Minersville, rushing for 234 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Stevenosky's longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Dante Carr, who threw for 76 yards and two touchdowns on only four passes.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Nativity BVM to a paltry 248 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Minersville's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Emiliano Conklin and his two sacks.
Minersville is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Nativity BVM, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.
Friday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Minersville has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 266.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Nativity BVM struggles in that department as they've been averaging 159.9 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
