On Wednesday, Sagemont faced the Riviera Prep Bulldogs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The contest between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Sagemont falling 79-63. Their loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Sagemont still got an impressive performance from Patrick Liburd, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kevin Thomas, who scored 15 points.
Sagemont's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 13-6. As for Riviera Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
Sagemont on the road again on Friday and play against Lake Worth at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Lake Worth knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Sagemont likes a good challenge. As for Riviera Prep, they will square off against Winter Haven at 6:40 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in the nation (Winter Haven is ranked 41st, while Riviera Prep is ranked 61st).
