WPIAL AA Allegheny recap October 22, 2013
East Allegheny scaled the state rankings by moving to 319 from 367 this week, the biggest jump in WPIAL AA Allegheny. The Wild Cats were able to move up by besting Burrell 48-17.
Ford City was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to sixth in the league. The Sabers defeated Deer Lakes 38-21 earlier in the week.
Andrew Romanchak and Michael Troup gave Freeport a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Romanchak threw for 106 yards, while Troup ran for 103 yards. Dylan Hochbein also contributed to the rushing game with 17 yards on the ground.
Ford City's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Sabers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Michael Bartosiewicz has thrown for 379 yards and 3 touchdowns this season, while Cody Peppler has 7 catches for 203 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Shady Side Academy takes on second place Kittanning.
Shady Side Academy extended the longest winning streak in WPIAL AA Allegheny this week by beating Summit Academy, 38-8. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Indians.
