Holy Cross's Todd Spriggins recorded the longest rushing play in 4A District 10 this season in his game against Fontainebleau last week. Spriggins scampered for 79 yards on the play and finished with 131 on the day as his team defeated the Bulldogs.
East Jefferson suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after topping Riverdale. The Warriors had been ranked 11th, but fell to 37.
Holy Cross' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. James Tabary threw for 302 and five touchdowns and Kevin Spears had 168 yards receiving. Ryan Smith helped Holy Cross' passing attack out by catching two balls for 84 yards.
Holy Cross' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Tabary has thrown for 1066 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while Spears has 36 catches for 591 yards. Spriggins leads the league in rushing with 580 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Barry Wilson's team takes on Easton. The Tigers are in third place, while the Eagles are in fourth place.
Holy Cross was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Fontainebleau. The Tigers came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 40 last week.
