Softball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Midlothian's Ninth in Last 11 Outings

There's no place like home for Midlothian, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past the Kaufman Lions 11-1 on Tuesday. Considering the Panthers have won nine games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Paige Insley tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Aniyah Givens was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madison Howard, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Midlothian has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Kaufman, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-11-2.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Midlothian Panthers duke it out with Ennis Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Midlothian's pitchers better be ready for this one: Ennis has averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Kaufman, they will face off against Red Oak at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
