McDonough is 2-8 against Huntingtown since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The McDonough Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Huntingtown Hurricanes at 6:30 p.m. McDonough knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Huntingtown likes a good challenge.
Even though McDonough has not done well against Westlake recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. McDonough snuck past Westlake with a 61-57 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McDonough to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mekhai Johnson, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Johnson hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Tyrik Petway, who scored 14 points along with five assists and two steals.
Huntingtown can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They walked away with a 68-60 win over Patuxent. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
McDonough's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points per game. As for Huntingtown, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-9.
McDonough beat Huntingtown 65-58 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Does McDonough have another victory up their sleeve, or will Huntingtown turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
