Avon has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Westport Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on January 24th. Avon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 776 points over their last 11 games.
Avon can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 83-46 win over Norfolk County Agricultural. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-21.
Thomas Irby was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 19 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Josiah Guerrier, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Westport ended up a good deal behind Bedford on Sunday and lost 72-53. While losing is never fun, Westport can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Bedford is ranked 38th).
Avon's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0. As for Westport, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
Avon was taken down by Westport 77-48 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Avon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
