The South Lake Eagles lost against the Haines City Hornets back in November, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. South Lake ended up on the wrong side of a rough 60-37 walloping at the hands of Haines City. South Lake has struggled against Haines City recently, as their matchup on Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
South Lake's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aniyah Wilmore, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Kaylin Cockefair, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Arissa Jenkins was her usual excellent self, scoring 27 points for Haines City. That makes it three consecutive games in which Jenkins has scored at least 25% of Haines City's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zebrelle Canaday, who scored 13 points.
South Lake now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Haines City, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1.
South Lake won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Windermere at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th. Windermere is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. Haines City won't have much time to rest: their next match is against East Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. East Ridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 331st, while Haines City is ranked 55th).
