Softball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Mississinewa

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mississinewa walked away with it. They never let the New Haven Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Lilah Greer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Amiyaa Parr-Inman and Jarrah Tegarden did most of the damage at the plate: Parr-Inman went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Tegarden went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Tegarden has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaci Crick, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Mississinewa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win was the sixth in a row for Mississinewa, bringing their record up to 18-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for New Haven, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 14 of their last 15 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-22 record this season.

Mississinewa will face off against Marion at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Giants have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.52 runs per game on average), something the Indians will no doubt try to take advantage of. New Haven does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
