Softball Recap: Branford Has No Trouble Against Chiefland

While Branford put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Chiefland. Branford put the hurt on Chiefland with a sharp 11-0 victory. The Buccaneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by ten runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Cloey Criggall, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Alexandria Whitfield was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Branford has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. Chiefland has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Branford will head out to take on Lafayette at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chiefland, they will challenge Fort White at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort White's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so Chiefland's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
