After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Edgewood, the West Shore Wildcats were happy to have found some success on Monday. They snuck past Melbourne Central Catholic with a 35-30 victory. That 35-30 margin sets a new team best for West Shore this season.
When it comes to explaining why Melbourne Central Catholic lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ari Teeter. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points. The matchup was Teeter's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jane Cichock, who scored two points along with 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Melbourne Central Catholic were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
West Shore's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Melbourne Central Catholic, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-2.
West Shore will head out on the road to face off against Melbourne at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Melbourne focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Monday. As for Melbourne Central Catholic, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Morningside Academy at 1:30 p.m. on December 12th. Morningside Academy's defense has only allowed 25.9 points per game this season, so Melbourne Central Catholic's offense will have their work cut out for Melbourne Central Catholic.
