Softball Recap: Payette Wins Going Away Against Homedale

There's no place like home for Payette, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They came out on top against the Homedale Trojans by a score of 11-7 on Wednesday. That four run margin sets a new team best for the Pirates this season.

The team relied heavily on Lucia Walker, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mya Smith, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Walker wasn't the only one making solid contact: Payette kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Homedale only managed five hits.

Payette's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-8. As for Homedale, they dropped their record down to 4-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Payette will take on Melba at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Homedale, they will square off against Weiser at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
