Greenville has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against The Russell County Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After soaring to 33 points the game before, Greenville were a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They suffered a rough 31-7 defeat at the hands of Demopolis.
Meanwhile, Russell County lost to Central of Clay County on the road by a decisive 30-14 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, Russell County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 136th, while Central of Clay County is ranked 14th).
Although Russell County took the loss, they still got scores from Denver Harper and Markevious Yancie.
Greenville's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-3 Charles Henderson and 5-4 Rehobeth (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 60.7% over those games). As for Russell County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
Greenville might still be hurting after the 34-13 loss they got from Russell County when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Can Greenville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
