Basketball Recap: Vanden Find Success

Vanden lost to Sacramento back in February of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, the Vanden Vikings made off with a 59-58 win over the Sacramento Dragons.

Vanden's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chriseanie Nealy led the charge by going 9 for 18 en route to 22 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Nealy a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was James Carraway, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points and three steals.

Despite the loss, Sacramento still got an impressive performance from Shawn Underwood, who went 7 for 13 en route to 21 points in addition to five assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Devion Watts, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 12 points.

Vanden pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Sacramento, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Vanden didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 71-44 win against River City on the 17th. As for Sacramento, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 73-57 victory against Cornerstone Christian on the 18th.
