Anne Arundel County recap Oct. 23, 2012
Arundel extended the longest winning streak in Anne Arundel County this week by beating Severna Park, 48-6. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Wildcats.
Meade took down Glen Burnie 68-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Chesapeake's dynamic duo of Brandon Blanchard and Aaron Terry proved tough for Annapolis to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Blanchard threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns and Terry had 102 yards receiving. Dante Villaras helped Chesapeake's passing attack out by catching two balls for 62 yards.
Deandre Gross made the biggest impact on defense this week as Southern fell to Old Mill. The 5-foot-11 senior recorded one fumble.
Dejuan Neal was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 122 yards as the Bulldogs topped the Panthers. Malique Pratt also contributed to the rushing game with 56 yards on the ground.
Chesapeake's Blanchard and Terry have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Blanchard has thrown for 944 yards this season, while Terry, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 32 catches for 449 yards. Southern's Neal leads the league in rushing yards with 935.
Russell Meyers' team's Neal is a mere 65 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
A big matchup in Anne Arundel County this week will be when Arundel takes on Rob Elliott's team. Chuck Markiewicz's team is in first place, while the Cougars are in sixth place.
The Mustangs led the league in scoring this week after putting up 68 points on the Gophers.
