Goshen extended their winning streak to six on Tuesday, bumping them up to 15-3. Everything went their way against the Reading Blue Devils as they made off with a 27-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Nina Hodge made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hodge was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
In other pitching news, Margaret Shoemaker looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits.
Back at the plate, Goshen got a massive performance out of Skye Shaw, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Shaw has posted since back in March. Karli Campbell was another key player, going 4-for-5 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Goshen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive matchups.
As for Reading, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. Having soared to a lofty 21 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
On Reading's side, Eliza Schierloh was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Goshen will square off against Mount Notre Dame at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Reading, they will challenge Deer Park at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 11.3 runs per game this season.
