The Fremont Firebirds pushed their score all the way to 33 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 43-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Carlmont. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (31), Fremont still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Fremont lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alexander Solarez. Despite the final result, he rushed for 155 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. Solarez's longest rush was for an incredible 85 yards. Jordan Mckinney also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
It was another big night for Braeden Kumer, who rushed for 238 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Kumer hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games. Christian Booth was another key contributor, rushing for 30 yards and two touchdowns.
Fremont's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Carlmont, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 3-7 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fremont will take on Homestead at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Homestead is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Carlmont, they will be playing at home against Sequoia at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
