Softball Recap: Cypress Woods Has No Trouble Against Cypress Park

Cypress Woods's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Cypress Park Tigers. Considering the Wildcats have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Hannah Spencer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February.

At the plate, Tristan Hopkins and Alexia Vazquez did most of the damage at the plate: Hopkins went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Vazquez scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave Vazquez a new career-high. Aliyah Cabrera also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Cypress Woods was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in five consecutive contests.

The win got Cypress Woods back to even at 10-10-1. As for Cypress Park, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-12.
