The Christel House Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Covenant Christian Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Christel House has given up an average of 11.4 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Monday just wasn't the day for Christel House's offense. They came up short against Irvington Preparatory Academy on Monday, falling 19-0. The defeat leaves the Eagles still looking for their first win of the season.
Covenant Christian not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 8th (when they won 13-6). They put the hurt on Beech Grove with a sharp 11-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.
Eli Kegeris and Nolan Guzman made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Kegeris didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Guzman tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Kegeris has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Kegeris went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Guzman got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Those three RBI gave Kegeris a new career-high.
In other batting news, Henry Boyce was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Eagen, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Covenant Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Covenant Christian's record is now 9-6. As for Christel House, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4-1.
Christel House might still be hurting after the 16-1 defeat they got from Covenant Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
