Even though The Lake Gibson Braves scored an imposing 36 points on Friday, the Lake Minneola Hawks still came out on top. Lake Minneola walked away with a 43-36 win over Lake Gibson. The win was nothing new for Lake Minneola as they're now sitting on six straight.
It was another big night for Dane Thompkins, who rushed for 202 yards and five touchdowns. Thompkins hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for four straight games. Braylon Knauth also helped out with an impressive 135 receiving yards.
Despite the loss, Lake Gibson still got an impressive performance from Fentrell Graham, who rushed for 158 yards and three touchdowns. Graham has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Joel Morris, who threw for 165 yards and two touchdowns.
Lake Minneola's win was their fourth straight on the road , which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.8 points per game. As for Lake Gibson, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
Lake Minneola will look to defend their home field on Friday against Haines City at 7:30 p.m. Haines City is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games. Lake Gibson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
