Given Glendale Prep Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while Highland Prep is ranked 230th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Senna Smith, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Hawkins, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the loss, Highland Prep still got an impressive performance from Trinity Alfaro, who scored 18 points. That's the first time this season that Alfaro scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Kendra Ibeh, who scored four points along with ten rebounds and two blocks.
Glendale Prep Academy's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. As for Highland Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glendale Prep Academy will challenge BASIS Phoenix at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
