Williams Valley is 2-8 against the Battlin' Miners since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Williams Valley Vikings just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Minersville Battlin' Miners at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd.
Williams Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They suffered a rough 72-49 loss at the hands of Mahanoy Area. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Williams Valley in their matchups with the Golden Bears: they've now lost three in a row.
In what's become a running theme this season, Minersville gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They blew past Weatherly 56-26 on the road. The victory was nothing new for Minersville as they're now sitting on three straight.
Minersville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dante Carr out in front who scored 14 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Shazier Bethea, who scored 12 points along with six assists and two steals.
Williams Valley now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Minersville, they pushed their record up to 12-7 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Williams Valley came up short against the Battlin' Miners when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 64-56. Can Williams Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
