Tucson High Magnet School got a great performance from Evannie Flores as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Flores has posted since back in March.
At the plate, Sofia Trejo was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Janice Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.
Tucson High Magnet School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Buena only posted an OBP of .211.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Rincon/University's offense. They lost 18-0 to Marana on Thursday. The Rangers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Tucson High Magnet School pushed their record up to 15-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Rincon/University, their loss dropped their record down to 5-14.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Tucson High Magnet School hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. However, it's not like Rincon/University struggles in that department as they've averaged .334. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Tucson High Magnet School's way against Rincon/University in their previous meeting last Thursday, as Tucson High Magnet School made off with a 15-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Badgers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
