The Warner Christian Academy Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 61-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Redeemer Christian. Warner Christian Academy found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up 13 fewer assists than your opponent.
Warner Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kayleb Goolsby, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Goolsby posted two or more blocks. Christian Nicholas was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Leading Redeemer Christian to victory were Davis Lehman and Beau Suarez. Lehman dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds, while Suarez scored 26 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Suarez has scored at least a third of Redeemer Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Patrick Miller-Edwards, who scored five points along with 11 rebounds.
Warner Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. As for Redeemer Christian, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Warner Christian Academy will take on First Baptist Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Redeemer Christian, Redeemer Christian and First Assembly Christian Academy will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
