The Palmetto Mustangs will challenge the St. Joseph's Catholic Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Palmetto is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Palmetto barely beat Powdersville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went Palmetto's way against Powdersville on Tuesday as Palmetto made off with an 11-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

02/26/25 vs Laurens | 3 |
04/23/24 vs Southside | 5 |
Anna Nelms spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Graelyn Adams was incredible, firing off two home runs and one stolen base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in home runs. Hannah Lawter was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Adams wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Palmetto lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph's Catholic suffered their closest defeat since March 2, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Southside Christian by a score of 5-3. The matchup marked the Knights' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Addie Murphy was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Emerson Tate made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Reese Martin also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
St. Joseph's Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Palmetto, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Palmetto has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. However, it's not like St. Joseph's Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
