Maddie Gilbert made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Gilbert has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances. Gilbert was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and a triple.
In other batting news, Rylee Franklin was excellent, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicoletta Gareau, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Fairfax HomeSchool is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
