Baseball Recap: Carson Comes Up Short

Carson fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against South Stanly on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulls by a score of 5-4. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by just one run.

Ryan Snyder made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Carson: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-10 otherwise.

This is the second loss in a row for Carson and nudges their season record down to 10-12. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 18-4 South Rowan (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 71.3% over those games). As for South Stanly, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Carson has already played their next game, a 7-4 loss against South Rowan on the 24th. As for South Stanly, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 10-7 win against Union Academy on the 24th.
