Goshen is 5-0 against South Bend Clay since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Goshen RedHawks will head out on the road to face off against the South Bend Clay Colonials at 7:30 p.m. Goshen has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though South Bend St. Joseph scored an imposing 55 points on Saturday, Goshen still came out on top. Goshen walked away with a 63-55 victory over South Bend St. Joseph. With that win, Goshen brought their scoring average up to 51.2 points per game.
Goshen can attribute much of their success to Andre Williams, who scored 15 points, and Gage Worthman, who scored 18 points. Ryan Eldridge was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Meanwhile, South Bend Clay pushed their score all the way to 72 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to South Bend Washington 77-72. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (64), South Bend Clay still had to take the loss.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kelin Webster, who scored 24 points along with 7 rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyrese Jones, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, South Bend Clay were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Bend Washington only pulled down ten.
Their wins bumped Goshen to 3-2 and South Bend St. Joseph to 3-2.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Goshen hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 51.2 points per game. It's a different story for South Bend Clay, though, as they've been averaging only 73.2 per game. The only thing between Goshen and another offensive beatdown is South Bend Clay. Goshen didn't have too much breathing room in their game against South Bend Clay in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 54-49 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was South Bend Clay's Ameer Harris, who scored 25 points. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Goshen to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
