Baseball Recap: Asheville T Takes a Loss

Asheville T fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Hickory Christian Academy on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 14-11 to the Hickory Christian Academy Knights.

Sterling Haynes and Stephen Covington did some serious damage despite the final result: Haynes scored three runs while going 3-for-5, while Covington scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. Asheville T is 2-1 when Covington posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise. Joel Kissinger also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Asheville T has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. The win was the third in a row for Hickory Christian Academy, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Coming up, Asheville T will challenge Asheville School (Independent) at 4:30 p.m. on March 25th. As for Hickory Christian Academy, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Pinnacle Classical Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday.
