The Northwestern Bulls will head out on the road to square off against the North Miami Beach Chargers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Northwestern had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Reagan on Thursday. The Bulls put the hurt on the Bison with a sharp 19-4 victory. The Bulls might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by 11 runs or more this season.

Jesus Rivera and Alejandro Garcia did most of the damage at the plate: Rivera scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Garcia scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Garcia is becoming a predictor of Northwestern's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was J. Williams, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Northwestern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, North Miami Beach had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 14-13 W against the Tornadoes. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Chargers have posted since March 12, 2024.
North Miami Beach let Samuel Castro and Gabriel Gamon run wild. Castro scored two runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-4, while Gamon scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-5. Gamon also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Giuseppe Ranalli was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.
North Miami Beach's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Northwestern, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Northwestern has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .490. However, it's not like North Miami Beach struggles in that department as they've averaged .488. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northwestern skirted past North Miami Beach 12-10 when the teams last played back in February. Do the Bulls have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chargers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
