The Johnson Atomsmashers waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They had just enough and edged Liberty County out 36-33. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Johnson has scored all season.
Johnson's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Favion Kirkwood, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kadin Davis, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Johnson is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Liberty County, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4.
Johnson's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hart County at 1:00 p.m. on January 15th. Hart County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 240th, while Johnson is ranked 105th). Liberty County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Wayne County at 3:30 p.m. on January 13th.
