In what's become a running theme this season, the Seton Conquistadors gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Fredericksburg Christian 70-34 at home. The win was familiar territory for Seton who now have five in a row.
Seton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lucy Pennefather out in front who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 20 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pennefather has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lilly Vander Woude, who scored 17 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Fredericksburg Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Riley Thomas, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Thomas continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Layna Thomas, who scored seven points along with six assists and two steals.
Seton pushed their record up to 10-3 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Fredericksburg Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seton will challenge Chelsea Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Chelsea Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday. As for Fredericksburg Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Immanuel Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Immanuel Christian has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 28.
