The Bloomfield Bees had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They had just enough and edged Wakefield out 54-51. The win was just what Bloomfield needed coming off of a 70-49 defeat in their prior contest.
Layne Warrior was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Smith, who scored nine points.
Wakefield lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jacob Borg, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Jesse Lundahl was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.
Bloomfield's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Wakefield, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
Bloomfield will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Vikings at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Wausa is ranked 182nd, while the Bees are ranked 169th). Wakefield will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Bears at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Laurel-Concord-Coleridge is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.3 points per game this season.
