Bishop Loughlin is 8-2 against Holy Cross since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Sunday. The Bishop Loughlin Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Holy Cross Knights at 3:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Friday, Bishop Loughlin was beaten by Cobble Hill 106-48. While losing is never fun, Bishop Loughlin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while Cobble Hill is ranked 93rd).
Meanwhile, Holy Cross struggled with assists on Tuesday (Archbishop Stepinac had 17 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Holy Cross was outmatched by Archbishop Stepinac at home and fell 76-39. Holy Cross has struggled against Archbishop Stepinac recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their defeat, Holy Cross saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Dylan Stanley, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Jacob Moreno was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Bishop Loughlin and nudges their season record down to 1-6. As for Holy Cross, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Bishop Loughlin was able to grind out a solid win over Holy Cross in their previous matchup back in February, winning 74-64. Will Bishop Loughlin repeat their success, or does Holy Cross have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
