The biggest upset of the week belonged to Philomath, who took down 32nd ranked Philomath, 26-14.
Newport and Taft played the most hotly contested game in 4A Oregon West this week, with Newport eventually emerging with a 20-17 victory.
Central's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Ben Finnegan has thrown for 1212 yards and 16 touchdowns this season, while Kelton Chapman has 19 catches for 428 yards. Tell Cruickshank leads the league in rushing with 659 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Tigers take on Cascade. Taft is currently in fifth, while the Cougars are in first.
There should be lots of points scored when Central and the Cubs face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Panthers comes in having scored 217 this season, while Newport has scored 161. Central scored 36 points last week as it bested Stayton.
Cascade made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,564 from 5,863. The improvement was the result of 26-14 victory over the Warriors last week.
