The Baruch College Blue Devils Bearcats will challenge the Chelsea Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Baruch College is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Esperanza Preparatory Academy 19-2 on Monday.
Ari Katz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Katz was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Aidan Silberstein was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, eight RBI, and three runs. Nesha Jovic was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with six stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Baruch College always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .737. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Chelsea made easy work of Esperanza Preparatory Academy two weeks ago and carried off a 21-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.
Like Baruch College, Chelsea also got a great game from a two-way player: Jaydan Colon. On the mound, Colon pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Spencer Kaufman struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. At bat, Colon went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Kaufman went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Chelsea got a massive performance out of Justin Leitner, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Jasper Caruso, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Chelsea's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Baruch College, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
