The Heritage Christian Academy Warriors will venture away from home to challenge the Todd County Central Rebels at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Heritage Christian Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Fort Campbell on Tuesday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Heritage Christian Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Miles, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, Todd County Central came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Storm. The result was nothing new for the Rebels, who have now won three contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Tommy Vanbeber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Peyton Ortiz was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in runs (two). Another player making a difference was Conner Wheeler, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-5.
Todd County Central's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Heritage Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Heritage Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Todd County Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Heritage Christian Academy suffered a grim 16-6 defeat to Todd County Central when the teams last played back in May of 2022. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
