The Indian Trail Hawks will venture away from home to challenge the Racine Park Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Indian Trail is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.2 points per game this season.
Indian Trail is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Franklin on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Indian Trail had to suffer through a 76-31 loss at the hands of Franklin. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 345th, while the Sabers are ranked 99th).
The losing side was boosted by Jack Zeller, who posted 12 points and five boards. Caden Williams was another key player, putting up five points and five assists.
Meanwhile, Racine Park suffered their closest loss since January 30, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Kenosha Bradford by a score of 63-60. That makes it the first time this season the Panthers have let down their home crowd.
Indian Trail will have to keep a close watch on Isaiah Robinson and Jaxson Moss, a pair of players who had a big impact on Racine Park's prior game. Robinson had 18 points in addition to seven assists and seven steals, while Moss dropped a double-double with 18 points and 19 rebounds. Robinson has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zareontae Gwinn, who en route to 18 points.
Even though they lost, Racine Park smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.
Indian Trail dropped their record down to 5-18 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points over those games. As for Racine Park, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 12-1 and their overall record down to 21-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Indian Trail has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 26.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Racine Park struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Indian Trail was taken down by Racine Park 95-50 in their previous meeting back in January. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Indian Trail was down 57-22.
