The Cardinal O'Hara Hawks will be home for the holidays to greet the Orchard Park Quakers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Cardinal O'Hara fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Lancaster on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 70-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Legends. While losing is never fun, Cardinal O'Hara can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while Lancaster is ranked tenth).
Cardinal O'Hara's defeat came about despite a quality game from Kels Ivey, who scored 32 points along with six rebounds. Ivey scored a full 48.5% of Cardinal O'Hara's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cannon Dotson, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
Cardinal O'Hara struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Orchard Park gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They blew past The Park School of Buffalo 78-33 at home.
Cardinal O'Hara's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-3. As for Orchard Park, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
