Softball Recap: Hilltop Extends Winning Streak to Three

Hilltop entered their tilt with Stryker on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 26-0 win. The Cadets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by seven runs or more this season.

Giada Rising made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with four runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Hilltop got a massive performance out of Kenley Routt, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Grace Serrano was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.

Hilltop always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .623. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stryker only posted an OBP of .000.

Hilltop pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Stryker, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Coincidentally, Hilltop and Stryker will both be playing Pettisville the next time they take the field. The Cadets will host the Blackbirds at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Panthers will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
