The Master's Academy Patriots will be taking part in a tournament against the Southwest Florida Christian King at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Southwest Florida Christian took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Master's Academy, who comes in off a win.
Master's Academy was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Westwood on Thursday. The Patriots put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 19-4 win. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Scarlett Grall made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Alison Viersma was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Heidi Kuperus also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Master's Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westwood only posted an OBP of .450.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Southwest Florida Christian's offense. They fell 4-0 to Bishop Verot on Thursday. The King's have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Master's Academy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for Southwest Florida Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Master's Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Southwest Florida Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Master's Academy's way against Southwest Florida Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2023, as Master's Academy made off with a 16-0 win.
