The Big Sandy Red Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Hughes Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Big Sandy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Big Sandy suffered a rough 51-29 loss at the hands of Gleason. Big Sandy has not had much luck with Gleason recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Despite the loss, Big Sandy got a solid performance out of Bailey Berry, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Berry scored a full 51.7% of Big Sandy's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Hughes' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Adamsville by a score of 39-37. While losing is never fun, Hughes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 285th, while Adamsville is ranked 102nd).
Clarksburg's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Big Sandy's defeat dropped theirs to 0-1.
Big Sandy and Hughes were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, but Big Sandy came up empty-handed after a 59-58 loss. Can Big Sandy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
