Basketball Recap: Paxton Piles Up the Points Against Destin

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Paxton's strategy against Destin on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Paxton Bobcats blew the Destin Sharks out of the water with a 52-20 final score. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 21 points or more this season.

Paxton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marley McClelland, who went 5 of 8 en route to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bethany Raeder, who posted five points along with eight boards and three steals.

Paxton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.

Paxton's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. As for Destin, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

When Paxton and Destin next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Paxton will try to stop Jay's three-game winning streak when the meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Paxton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.1 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Destin will try to stop Rocky Bayou Christian's four-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
