Having just played yesterday, the Thornton Trojans will get right back to it and host the Highland Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Thursday, Thornton had to suffer through a rough 67-11 loss at the hands of Skyview. Thornton has not had much luck with Skyview recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Meanwhile, Highland unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. The contest between them and Eaton wasn't particularly close, with Highland falling 69-53. Highland found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post eight fewer assists than your opponent.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Briza Flores, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That was a full 37.7% of Highland's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Mary Jones was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Thornton's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Highland, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6.
Thornton took a serious blow against Highland in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 58-14. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Thornton was down 36-5.
