Columbia have had a week off and are no doubt ready to get back on the field. On Saturday they take on Weldon at Weldon High School at 1:00 PM. Columbia are limping into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
Columbia fought the good fight in their overtime contest three weeks ago but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to Northwest Halifax 20-28. The contest was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Columbia were outplayed the rest of the way.
Meanwhile, after having lost a blowout in their game four weeks ago against Roanoke Rapids, Weldon were happy to find some success last Friday. Weldon were able to grind out a solid win over Northwest Halifax, winning 28-18.
Weldon's victory lifted them to 2-2 while Columbia's loss dropped them down to 0-4. If Weldon want to win, Weldon will need to focus on stopping Columbia's senior Nasseim Basnight, who rushed for 64 yards and 1 touchdown, and senior Kamari Clegg, who caught passes for 161 yards and 1 touchdown. We'll see whether or not they are up to the challenge.
